The Tried and True
My son recently introduced me to a new online game that can be played with family and friends in different locations. In this game, called Jackbox, a computer provides questions to which every player must submit an answer. Afterwards, the player whose answer is voted the funniest receives the most points.
There’s also an option in Jackbox called a “safety quip”—if you can’t come up with an answer on your own before the time is up, you have the option to click the safety button and the computer will generate an answer for you. Sometimes, the computer’s fallback “safety quip” wins the most points for the round!
It’s great to be creative and come up with new, original ideas. But it’s not always necessary. The trusted, tried, tested and “safe” fall back ideas, can work well too. And sometimes, under pressure, are the only ways to win.
